Cinnamon Raisin Pancakes

I was going to make pecan date pancakes again, but decided to make "PA Dutch sticky-bun" inspired pancakes instead so I could save the dates for another recipe I wanted to make in the near future. I made Aunt Jemima's wholewheat pancake batter. Then I sprinkled raisins, pecans, and cinnamon on top of our pancakes as I cooked them. When I sampled them, they didn't really taste like sticky bun flavored pancakes. My pancakes had more of a hearty cinnamon raisin flavor you would get from a bagel.

Blueberry Pecan Wholewheat Pancakes

Yesterday, Anthony asked me what I wanted for breakfast. I said, "blueberry wholewheat pancakes." Was I surprised when he made them for us. He also added pecans! Delicious.

Swirlesque Pancakes & Specialty Scrambled Eggs!

Starring Guest Food Artist: Anthony Garland (Husband)

One of my husband's friends came over for dinner. Earlier this week he and my husband facebooked back and forth about a good time for all of us to get together. His friend had said that he wanted to make dinner for Anthony and I, but that his apartment was too small. He asked if he could come to our place instead. Anthony said sure. When his friend showed up for dinner it became apparent that not everyone was on the same page so to speak. We thought the friend was making dinner at our place, and he thought we were making dinner at our place! When Anthony's friend arrived, I was feeding baby Shastya, so Anthony hatched the eggs and pancakes plan.

Unfortunately, my dear husband has never shared his secret pancake recipe with me, meaning I cannot share it with you. What's more, the marble pancakes are a new variation on his traditional secret pancake recipe. About halfway through the supper cooking time I showed up, and Anthony asked me to make the eggs. He had ham, onion, and Gouda to put in them. The meal was amazing. I loved the pancakes.

Artisan Pecan & Date Pancakes

Anthony was in a hurry, so for breakfast I whipped up some pancake batter, and poured some of it out on a large skillet. I then hurriedly crumbled pecans, and cut pitted dates, dropping them on top of the batter. While piecing the pecans I thought of how my Mom loves pecan pancakes. I'm not sure what she would think of the dates accompanying them. She'll have to try pecan & date pancakes sometime. We thought they were delicious. The dates really just added kind of a syrupy flavor.

Southern Fried Apples & Pancakes Breakfast

I made fried apples this morning. May have been the first time. They were really good. I just sprayed my pan, sliced up four paula red apples into it, covered them with cinnamon, sugar, and drizzled oil over them. I made Aunt Jemima's thick buttermilk pancakes again, and we put the fried apples on top. I could eat that again.

Thick Pancakes With No Milk or Eggs Added

Yesterday I tried to go grocery shopping at Aldi. The lights were on but they weren't open. The other customers and I standing outside the locked doors couldn't figure out what was up if they were getting held up or what until we saw a sign- Closed for Labor Day. I thought it was kind of ironic that a German grocery store was closed on an American holiday and the American grocery stores were still open. Pretty funny. At any rate, I didn't save as much as I would have liked to this week shopping, but I did end up getting a bunch of different or new to us items, very exciting. One of these new items was a box of Aunt Jemima's Buttermilk Pancake & Waffle Mix which I purchased at Big Lots. All that needs to be added to the mix is water, no milk or eggs! I made pancakes with the new mix this morning for breakfast. Our pancakes were almost an inch thick! Anthony said he and his family used to make thick pancakes growing up, and that he likes them that way. Me too. I think I might even eat a couple more for lunch. I'm thinking something like a toasted pancake sandwich stuffed with pickles and a chicken patty. I asked Anthony if he wanted a similar sandwich to take to school, but he just wanted a regular sandwich.
