Indian Cooking

A church friend, Rachel Singapogu is teaching her first season of workshops called Indian Cooking For Beginners. I will be attending one of these classes soon. Not only will she be teaching people how to make their own curries among other things, but she is also selling Indian Cooking Starter Kits! I already purchased one of these from her. She is selling a small kit with basic Indian spices for $15. She is selling a second larger kit that has additional products in it for $80, which after talking about it with Anthony, we purchased because we love Indian food. When I brought the kit home and checked it out, I was amazed at what all Rachel had given me for just $80! One spice alone at a lot of stores can sometimes cost $6, but I received 36 items in my Indian Cooking Kit for only $80. Rachel keeps a beautiful blog called My Indian Recipes that are easy to follow. I know I will be referring to her recipes frequently.

Baby Shastya Felisya's First Day Eating Breakfast Cereal!

Shastya had her four month doctor visit recently, and she was given the "go ahead" for eating moistened breakfast cereals. We have had so much fun feeding rice cereal to her. She is already an avid eater or foodie it seems! It's like we can't get the food to her fast enough. She just wants more, more, more!

Pompous Produce

I just had to share some novelties I found at the grocery store. The specialty items I picked out for the week included: papaya, cardoon, artichoke, daikon radish, ginger, black radish, kalamata crown figs, and kale! I have so much fun picking out new things at the grocery store, and then trying out random formulas for the products throughout the week.

CARDOON

 ARTICHOKE

DAIKON RADISH

GINGER ROOT

Arduino Date 3: Fading

We had some more fun with the Arduino and breadboard. This particular tutorial, "fading" went rather quickly for us. I think the example picture helped me figure it out pretty fast. So fast, that Anthony thought that it would be nice to do another new tutorial. I thought it might be nice to stop while we were still having fun! We ended up stopping while we were ahead, and switching activities to yoga at my request.

Pretty Purple Cabbage Bowls

Purple cabbage is so beautiful and tasty to work with. I put kind of a two to one ratio of purple cabbage to egg noodles for my cabbage bowls. I figured it would be healthier that way. Amazing. I will definitely be making this again.

Cabbage Bowls:

2 Cups Chicken Water (leftover from poached chicken breast)
1 Cup Egg Noodles

1/3 Cup Napa Cabbage
1 Onion
1 Head Purple Cabbage
3 Tb Soy Sauce
3 Tb Balsamic Vinegar
Salt & Pepper

1. Cook noodles in chicken water.

2. Saute onion in a large skillet. Add cabbage, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, and salt and pepper.

3. Add cooked noodles and chicken water to cabbage skillet. Cook until liquid is cooked off or absorbed.

Cold Cereal & Hot Cereal

We needed to make a quick breakfast. I thought of cereal. Anthony thought of adding fruit to it. I got out all the ingredients and washed the fruit. Anthony sliced the apple. We passed baby Shastya Felisya back and forth while we prepared our breakfasts. When we finished prepping, I ate the cold cereal, and Anthony ate the hot cereal.

Fennel Sweet Apple Beet Juice

So this juice tasted and looked a little like Good & Plenty candy product of Hershey, PA: "tasted like," because of the licorice flavor of the fennel, and "looked like" because of the bright happy color. Very interesting combination for a chewable juice with fibrous pulp galore.

Fennel Sweet Apple Beet Juice:

1 Cup Chopped Fennel
1 Quartered Golden Delicious Apple
1 Chopped Red Beet and Greens
